“Scandal” star Kerry Washington gave fans a sneak peek Monday at her work with director Rick Famuyiwa for the upcoming HBO feature film “Confirmation.”
She posted a short video of her and Famuyiwa in the recording studio to Instagram with the words “COMING SOON to @HBO #Confirmation #PunIntended”
The made-for-TV movie will recreate the events surrounding the 1991 Senate confirmation hearing in which then legal assistant Anita Hill charged that her boss, current U.S. Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas, sexually harassed her.
Thomas, then a Federal Circuit Court judge, was being nominated to the Supreme Court by President George H.W. Bush. The hearings were relatively calm until Hill’s allegations came to light. Despite her testimony, Thomas was confirmed by a 52-48 vote.
Washington will play Hill to Wendell Pierce’s Thomas.
The film will also star Greg Kinnear as Joe Biden, Treat Williams as Ted Kennedy and Jennifer Hudson as Angela Wright according to IMDB.com
Although Washington grammed that the movie will airing soon, a search on HBO.com yielded no premier date.
