Taraji Henson upset Viola Davis of “How to Get Away with Murder” and “House of Cards'” Robin Wright to take home the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series.
Henson toasted the crowd pasting out baked treats as she made her way to the stage and proclaiming “Cookies for everyone tonight — my treat.”
This was her first nomination despite her lengthy TV and movie acting career dating back to the late 90s, and she made sure everyone knew how long she anticipated this moment.
Most recently Henson played detective Joss Carter in the series “Person of Interest” before taking the role of Cookie Lyon in “Empire”
When award show producers gave her the wrap cue, Henson shot back “I’ve waited 20 years for this, you’re gonna wait.”
